This Nova Scotia schooner achieved immortality when its image was engraved onto the Canadian dime. Founded in 1753, this city was built by shipwrights.  Seventy percent of the original colonial buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries continue to greet visitors with their colorful fa\u00e7ades and nautical architectural features, such as porthole windows, arches with elbows, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Widow%27s_walk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">widow&#8217;s walks<\/a> and roofs shaped like inverted ship hulls.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img A tropical storm had passed by just a few days ago leaving behind fog, high winds and heavy swells.  Here&#8217;s how the <em>Huron Jewel<\/em> rode the waves.&nbsp; If you watch this video clip for 60 seconds, you&#8217;ll know how I was feeling!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After we turned the corner around the south end of Nova Scotia, the weather was favorable again.   We crossed the Bay of Fundy and the Gulf of Maine on flat seas with gentle breezes.  I was on watch to see the sun rise as the storm passed over us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zoa.com\/2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/hj87.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4277\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>On this same watch, we saw seals, dolphins and &#8212; best of all &#8212; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Puffin\" target=\"_blank\">puffins<\/a>! Many of Maine&#8217;s offshore islands are untouched wildernesses.  At one of these beautiful islands, we dropped anchor and rowed ashore to go hiking.  After a week at sea, it felt great to stretch my legs. This was my first lobster meal in Maine. Here&#8217;s the <em>Huron Jewel<\/em> prancing through whitecaps as we motored along at 7 knots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surrounded by tall ships, schooners, lobster boats and motor launches, the <em>Huron Jewel<\/em> was right at home in Camden harbor.
