How to obtain your winSTARS key file

In FY04, CNO used central funding to license STARS for Windows (aka winSTARS) for use throughout the entire Navy. Every U.S. Navy command should have received an updated STARS key registration file to enable their software through 30SEP04. If you wish to use STARS in FY04 and have not yet received your STARS key file, just send an email to sales@zoa.com. Please include the full name of your command/installation, your UIC and a contact telephone number.

For FY05, all commands are required to use local funds to pay the annual STARS software site licenses. Contact sales@zoa.com for additional information and to place your renewal order.

Your STARS key file will be sent to you as an attachment via email. This key file (named headers.txt), will tell your currently installed copy of STARS that your software site license is paid up through FY04. To install this file, just copy it into the subdirectory where your winstars.exe program file is installed. Be sure that the attached file is named headers.txt so that it will overwrite and replace your existing file of the same name. Since the key file is encrypted, do not attempt to open or edit this file.
